Why JW marriage is a huge problem for the organization.
by kneehighmiah inthe difficulty of finding a marriage mate is well known for sisters.
but i would say it's hard for brothers also.
i was talking to a jw last night.

I also think not many JWs are true to themselves about their likes/dislikes, they let the org determine their likes and what is attractive and then wonder why it doesn't work. -

"Only Baptized Ones have Unrestricted Privilege of Prayer"
by BluesBrother ini was sitting at the recent circuit assembly that i attended, (the things i do for sis blues) and the baptism talk was under way .
i admit that my mind was more on my imminent packed lunch and flask of coffee but i distinctly heard the speaker make the statement that heads this thread and cite a wt reference.. you what !
i was shocked....... how can they possibly make such an arrogant statement ?

I always thought it was stupid that they think THEY control other people's relationship with God, look at their disfellowshipping arrangement...... They think THEY dictate when someone is accepted by God or not, why would prayer be different? -

So this Cute Chick at the KH ...

im df'd...been df'd for over 19 years already.

can you say STALKER? Lol that is too funny, but it is true most JWs don't understand normal boundaries and social norms. It might be fun to play along for awhile. But you have talked to her once so you are probably engaged now. -

My first Halloween Party

i didn't know what to expect but i was really excited to be invited to accompany my daughter and her closest friends to a large (300+) party held at a famous hot spot.

How much fun was that? It sounds like you had a blast. Most people outside the JW world realize no one is perfect and we all have baggage, JW or otherwise. To admit that doesn't make you a victim or weak.
i love my life sans JW, take every opportunity to have fun and be open to new things. It just keeps getting better :-)

New Watchtower Propaganda and hate speech destroying families (Feb 2016 WT)
by Daniel1555 inthe following is a paragraph from the new february study watchtower article "learn from jehovah's loyal servants.".
7 a conflict of loyalties may arise when a close relative is disfellowshipped.
for example, a sister named anne [1] received a telephone call from her disfellowshipped mother.

Billy- that's what I started doing too. I tell everyone that I get the chance to about the JWs disfellowshippping arrangement, and exactly how they treat their own family. I also let people know you can never leave. My relative that is disfellowshipped hadn't been to a meeting in 2 years and the elders still went after them.
i feel like I don't have to cover for them or pretend that the JW behavior is acceptable on any level.

If JWs Were More Tolerant Would It Help Their Money Woes?
by minimus inthey don't want you bettering yourself.
they hate college education.they applaud you if you quit full time secular work and instead, "pioneer".
they cry that they have money problems.

Yes, take a look at the Mormons. Higher education is encouraged, their members make more money and then tithe 10% to the church. The Mormons have come out with some not so strong words about LGBT cause after the backlash from their prop 8 involvement. They encourage people to have children. -

by iwasblind inwhat an interesting weekend.. went to a "worldly" conference for work.
i met the most amazing people with so many different beliefs.
even so i shared and spoke about god freely and without being judged.

This was a great discovery for me as well. I have had more genuine kindness showed to me by non-JW's than I ever did by JW's. Also non-JWs don't expect everyone to agree. It's refreshing! -

Plan your escape, get your own place.
You don't have to defend anything to anyone. And just because someone asks you a question doesn't mean you have to answer it.

Go - have fun, don't worry about it, other people are in the same boat. The last one I went to they gave us name tags - so it was easy!
